Welcome back to Audacious Water. I’m John Sabo, and in this new season, we’re focusing on climate change – and how it will shape the lands, waters and people of the Mississippi River Basin.

Climate change will transform the American Heartland — making it drier, hotter, saltier, wetter, and sicker. These transformations will alter the landscape, the economy, and the lives of those who call the heartland home, as well as people around the world. 

Together, we’ll devote two episodes to each transformation. First, I’ll sit down with an expert to break down the science, the facts, and what’s really happening. Then, in the following episode, we’ll talk with someone on the frontlines—whether it’s a policymaker, an innovator, or a community leader—about how we can, and already are, taking action.

Whether you’re a regular listener or joining us for the first time, this season is all about deepening our understanding of climate change and exploring how to prepare and respond.
